Acacia Tone & 3-Finger Picking Technique
Acacia Tone & 3-Finger Picking Technique
The 3-finger bass technique is the main focus of this Instagram reel, performed on my Acacia Guitars Atlas 5 multi-scale bass.
I currently use this bass with DATE BACK TO DAWN, and this reel shows how I approach fast fingerstyle lines with clarity, control, and consistency.
Rather than just chasing speed, the key is keeping every note even, tight, and punchy, especially when playing with gain. This 3-finger bass technique helps maintain fluid movement while allowing for aggressive articulation in modern metal contexts.
The Atlas 5’s multi-scale construction provides balanced tension across the strings, making fast passages feel more controlled and stable. Combined with its slim neck, it allows for smooth transitions and comfortable high-speed playing.
Equipped with Aguilar DCB pickups and a Darkglass Tone Capsule, the bass delivers a clear, powerful low-end that supports precise picking definition, even under heavy distortion.
For modern metal bass playing, consistency is just as important as speed. Fast passages can easily lose impact if the notes become uneven or unclear. That is why I focus on keeping the attack controlled while maintaining enough power in each note.
In this reel, the Acacia Atlas 5 supports that approach with a stable feel and strong note definition. The multi-scale design helps the low strings stay tight, while the electronics give the tone enough clarity to cut through a dense mix.
This setup has become essential for achieving my main tone and executing demanding techniques in both studio and live environments.
